*We replaced the 5.13 kernel with 5.14 for 3.4 since 5.13 was already marked EoL.

*Changes to do_build task dependencies were merged. Some of these do cause changes in behaviour but in general the behaviour should match what people expect and only some CI setups would need changes. An example would be where an image would have previously built all package backends but now only the image’s format.
*YP 3.1.33 has passed QA and is due to release
*The invasive pkgconfig-native dependency changes has been deferred to the next release as people felt it was too invasive for 3.4. Meta-oe and OE-Core are fixed ready though.
*YP 4.0.18 is in QA.
*There is an sstate reuse issue where native sstate on aarch64 and x86_64 hosts isn’t generating correct hashes when combined with hash equivalence.
*Updates to graphing on the patch/CVE metrics page merged
*Issues with pollution of /tmp with temporary files has been noticed on the autobuilder. Help in cleaning this up would be very welcome.
*There is an open letter the project has created related to the CVE/NVD situation, more information is available here: https://lists.openembedded.org/g/openembedded-architecture/message/1990 Please consider signing this to show support for those changes, which would improve our ability to analyze CVEs, and that of many other projects (including other distros) to do so too.
*Intermittent issues took a significant rise last week as SWAT caught up with the backlog of issues. Help is very much welcome on these issues. *We continue to watch the NIST NVD (CVE database) situation, the lack of CPE information is problematic for us and we are considering what alternatives we have. The CVE Project announced support for more information fields on CVEs which is a good start.

*The project is sponsoring Syslinbit to separate out our CVE tooling from the build system into a standalone tool so that it can be used on software manifests of output at a later date.  
*There are proposals on the openembedded-architecture list to rework how do_unpack works, switching it from WORKDIR to a new variable and changing some directory layout.

  • YP 5.0 has been released!
  • Huge thanks to everyone who contributed to 5.0
  • YP 3.1.33 has passed QA and is due to release
  • YP 4.0.18 is in QA.
  • Updates to graphing on the patch/CVE metrics page merged
  • There is an open letter the project has created related to the CVE/NVD situation, more information is available here: https://lists.openembedded.org/g/openembedded-architecture/message/1990 Please consider signing this to show support for those changes, which would improve our ability to analyze CVEs, and that of many other projects (including other distros) to do so too.
