YP 2.5 M1 rc3 is out of QA and should be released imminently. There were some minor issues but we’ll address these as part of M2. *YP 6.0 M2 has been released.
With a round of security released fixes likely to land shortly, we’ll likely wait for these before we roll M2.
*YP 4.0.34 is due to be released.
The Automatic Upgrade Helper (AUH) ran, now based on devtool functionality and testing against a wider set of architectures and build options. This looks likely to easy recipe maintenance and increase productivity for people and I’d like to thank Alex for his work on this. There is much it could do better but it is continuing to evolve and become easier to use which is great to see.
*YP 5.3.3 is in review after QA.
The AUH emails have triggered a good batch of recipe upgrades. QEMU was also upgraded (which can often cause problems).
*YP 6.0 M3 is the feature freeze for 6.0 which is our next LTS.
I sent out a separate summary of changes which are happening to the Autobuilder, people on the SWAT team need to be especially aware of this http://lists.openembedded.org/pipermail/openembedded-architecture/2018-January/000694.html
*YP 6.0 M3 is now due to build however there are many key changes needed still missing.  
The long queued python recipe changes including its manifest have landed. We tested this as far as we could in core and I know there is some fall out in other layers, help and patience to work through the issues is appreciated. Patches pending against the python recipes will need to be rebased and resent.

There have been some significant changes to cmake, ninja and meson and meson is now the default for some recipes. There were some significant gettext cleanups.
**Splitting wic into an external tool.
**Deprecation of ltp (upstream dropped runltp and mandate kirk)
**How to improve DEBUG_BUILD?
**DISTRO_FEATURES defaults improvements.
**SBOM/cve-check changes.
**AB-INT: opkg-build segmentation fault (memory corruption in pseudo?) (#16078)
*Issues that are mostly known quantities still needing work:
**x86 kvm seemingly broken with certain CPU features (#16074)
**Failure to generate regression reports in release builds
**Reconcile poky and OE-Core defaults templates.
**Resolve Fedora 43 selftest failures
**Fixing yocto-check-layer to work with –machines
*Issues that were resolved this week:
**Switching to pkg-config.
**Allowing non-destructive git fetcher updates for bitbake-setup (further tweaks still being discussed)
*We are seeing issues with older versions of tar on RHEL 9 derived distros (selinux triggers due to xattrs)
*We’re working through the backlog of patches and intermittent build failures are still problematic. We continue to struggle for bandwidth for changes needing in depth review/feedback. This could impact features making it into the LTS.

Key Status/Updates:

  • YP 6.0 M2 has been released.
  • YP 4.0.34 is due to be released.
  • YP 5.3.3 is in review after QA.
  • YP 6.0 M3 is the feature freeze for 6.0 which is our next LTS.
  • YP 6.0 M3 is now due to build however there are many key changes needed still missing.
