*YP 4.1.2 is due to be released and YP 3.1.22 is in QA
*Richard Purdie is on holiday this week. For any urgent questions please contact Ross Burton who is covering.
*We had a few annoying intermittent autobuilder bug fixes this week, thanks to anyone who helped fix those!
*Last week was the Open Source Summit and Yocto Project Developer Day. Many thanks to Josef, Megan, and Philip for arranging this event which was well attended and was great to attend (RB)
*Failures on the autobuilder slowed down patch testing and merging as builds took a long time to stabilize. Thankfully we believe the most frequently occurring issues have been fixed so things should speed up again a little this week.
*YP 5.1 rc1 (final release) has passed QA, the final work item is updating the documentation. Help to write and review release notes and migration guides is greatly appreciated.
*CVE levels in master are becoming worrying again, help would be appreciated to address the open issues.
*master and styhead have now diverged, so be aware of this if you’re tracking git branches.
*We have a growing number of bugs in bugzilla, any help with them is appreciated.
*Migration to the new autobuilder has been postponed by a month to October, due to scaling issues and problems related to NFS and Ubuntu 24.04.  https://bugzilla.yoctoproject.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15596 has further details if anyone has insight into new coreutils plus NFS access control lists. Everyone who has the authority to trigger builds is encouraged to use the new cluster to stress test it.
*There are YP 5.2 proposed milestone dates https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TDrD9nFjosvLHa7EfL_Y1-1slK7u5Am6NZV6QRF2P6s/edit - please review and let us know if there are any concerns.
*There is discussion around configuration file markup/syntax related to fragment management on the architecture list, targeting 5.2.

*YP 4.1.2 and YP 3.1.22 were released
*As people are likely aware, the project has a number of components which are either unmaintained, or have people with little to no time trying to keep them alive. These components include: devtool, toaster, wic, oeqa, autobuilder, CROPs containers, pseudo and more. Many have open bugs. Help is welcome in trying to better look after these components!
*YP 4.2 M2 is due to build this week.
*There is an issue open upstream with the openssl project related to making path relocation of openssl easier (as used in our buildtools tarball and SDK). We’d love assistance in moving this forward and getting some kind of upstream feature merged to make this easier: https://github.com/openssl/openssl/pull/19260
*Stable builds have been proving hard to obtain due to varying issues over many of the submitted patches. This has limited patch flow over the last week.
*There are bugs identified as possible for newcomers to the project: https://wiki.yoctoproject.org/wiki/Newcomers
*We were able to merge 6.1 kernel improvements and a number of good bug fixes in other areas too.
*There are bugs that are currently unassigned for YP 5.1. See: https://wiki.yoctoproject.org/wiki/Bug_Triage#Medium+_5.1_Unassigned_Enhancements/Bugs
*There has been an improvement to the configurability of patch warnings/errors and patch fuzz issues will now error and stop builds by default.
*We’d welcome new maintainers for recipes in OE-Core. Please see the list at: http://git.yoctoproject.org/cgit.cgi/poky/tree/meta/conf/distro/include/maintainers.inc and discuss with the existing maintainer, or ask on the OE-Core mailing list. We will likely move a chunk of these to “Unassigned” soon to help facilitate this.
*Warning/errors over missing Upstream-Status details in non-core layers appears too controversial to enable by default but the option is now available should users wish to.
*Help is very much welcome in trying to resolve our autobuilder intermittent issues. You can see the list of failures we’re continuing to see by searching for the “AB-INT” tag in bugzilla: https://bugzilla.yoctoproject.org/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=AB-INT.
*CVE levels in master are becoming worrying again, Ross helpfully summarized the situation and submitted CPE changes for some of the issues being highlighted, thanks!
*Help us resolve CVE issues: CVE metrics

  • There is discussion around configuration file markup/syntax related to fragment management on the architecture list, targeting 5.2.

Ways to contribute:

  • As people are likely aware, the project has a number of components which are either unmaintained, or have people with little to no time trying to keep them alive. These components include: devtool, toaster, wic, oeqa, autobuilder, CROPs containers, pseudo and more. Many have open bugs. Help is welcome in trying to better look after these components!
  • There is an issue open upstream with the openssl project related to making path relocation of openssl easier (as used in our buildtools tarball and SDK). • There are bugs that are currently unassigned for YP 5.1. See: https://wiki.yoctoproject.org/wiki/Bug_Triage#Medium+_5.1_Unassigned_Enhancements/Bugs
  • We’d welcome new maintainers for recipes in OE-Core.
  • Help is very much welcome in trying to resolve our autobuilder intermittent issues. You can see the list of failures we’re continuing to see by searching for the “AB-INT” tag in bugzilla: https://bugzilla.yoctoproject.org/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=AB-INT.
  • Help us resolve CVE issues: CVE metrics
  • We have a growing number of bugs in bugzilla, any help with them is appreciated.
