'''Key Status/Updates:'''<br/>
*We are due to build YP 5.2 M1 this week
*YP 5.2.3 was released.
*YP 5.1.1 is due to be released
*YP 5.0.12 was released.
*There will be a status report next week (17th) but then not until 7th January due to holidays.
*YP 5.3 M3 is due to build soon
*Thanks to everyone who attended, presented, organized or was otherwise involved with the summit last week, there was lots of positive feedback!
*We’re at feature freeze for YP 5.3
*Parts of the bitbake fragments support has merged with some minor discussions pending for the rest.
*We have now updated to the 6.16 linux kernel
*We hope to get the fragments support merged for the M1 build but we’ve run of out time for the clang patches.
*There are clang/llvm performance improvements we plan to merge before building 5.3 (Thanks Ross!)
*There are discussions around how the yocto-check-layer script should verify network access is being enabled when it shouldn’t be (basically do_build triggered tasks which aren’t do_fetch).
*We aim to merge bitbake-setup before building 5.3 M3, work is currently being done to migrate the autobuilder to use it.
*The large number of kernel CVEs open continues to be a significant concern.
*This change will mean “poky” as a combo-layer repository will no longer be needed or updated.
*rpm will have new dependencies on rust and clang to enable signing support.
*Patch merging is continuing as long as the risk for the changes are low
*The 5.2 development plans are being developed in this document: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xsnN_HcaMhqg6Dn1P_19AnumDaUMQSdFZ_I4rjD830A/edit?usp=sharing
*There are a couple of open Yocto Project positions which we’re in the process of advertising:
*We need to continue to develop this, thanks to all who have contributed so far!
**Ecosystem Engineering and Operations Lead
**LTS Maintainer  - Steve Sakoman is retiring in April 2026

*As people are likely aware, the project has a number of components which are either unmaintained, or have people with little to no time trying to keep them alive. These components include: devtool, toaster, wic, oeqa, autobuilder, CROPs containers, pseudo and more. Many have open bugs. Help is welcome in trying to better look after these components!

*There is an issue open upstream with the openssl project related to making path relocation of openssl easier (as used in our buildtools tarball and SDK). We’d love assistance in moving this forward and getting some kind of upstream feature merged to make this easier: https://github.com/openssl/openssl/pull/19260

*We’d welcome new maintainers for recipes in OE-Core. Please see the list at: http://git.yoctoproject.org/cgit.cgi/poky/tree/meta/conf/distro/include/maintainers.inc and discuss with the existing maintainer, or ask on the OE-Core mailing list. We will likely move a chunk of these to “Unassigned” soon to help facilitate this.

*Help is very much welcome in trying to resolve our autobuilder intermittent issues. You can see the list of failures we’re continuing to see by searching for the “AB-INT” tag in bugzilla: https://bugzilla.yoctoproject.org/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=AB-INT.
